Background

Anduril Industries is reportedly seeking a $60 billion valuation as it moves ahead with a multibillion-dollar funding round, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The round is being led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, with participation expected from Lux Capital and Founders Fund.

If completed at the reported level, the valuation would double the company’s worth in less than a year. In June, Anduril closed its Series G funding round, raising $2.5 billion at a $30 billion valuation. Bloomberg reported that the new funding round could raise to $8 billion in fresh capital.

The fundraising effort comes during a sensitive period for defense startups working closely with the U.S. government. Recently, the Pentagon moved to cancel contracts with AI firm Anthropic following a contract dispute. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has also threatened to classify the company as a supply-chain risk.

Although Anduril has not directly supported such a designation, its founder, Palmer Luckey, publicly backed the government’s position. In a recent post on X, Luckey said that the U.S. should not outsource critical national decisions to private billionaires or corporate interests.

Anduril Industries builds advanced defense systems and autonomous technology. The company has grown quickly by winning contracts for border security, surveillance, and military systems. In its latest funding round, investors showed strong interest in defense technology.

The company has not officially confirmed the valuation target or the final amount to be raised.
